A MESSAGE FROM LEADERSHIP

EMPLOYEE HIGHLIGHTS

New Associates at CRS: We have seen professional growth at CRS through our associate program; two employees have become associates this year. Congratulations to Eric Larson, Marketing Manager, and Clint Allen, Rail Team Lead!

Staff Accomplishments & Awards: This year, we have seen remarkable accomplishments from our staff. Many of our employees are part of AEC organizations such as ACEC and ASCE and have earned new titles and awards during 2023.

Mark Chandler, PE, is our Water Sector Manager, and this year, he was awarded the ASCE Utah Chapter Engineer of the Year award. Sterling, one of our staff engineers, became the new Secretary-Treasurer for the ASCE Utah Wasatch Front Branch (WFB) Section. We also have had staff engineers who have earned their Professional Engineer License this year! These individuals have worked so hard to achieve this! Congrats to Kim Foster, Jacob Ames, Thomas Buhler, Olivia Sorenson, and Chris Struck!

Matt Hirst ACEC Fellow: At this year’s annual ACEC Conference in October, our CRS President and CEO, Matt Hirst, became the third recipient in Utah, to receive the prestigious recognition of Fellow. This achievement reflects his outstanding professional accomplishments and significant community contributions. Also, our Vice President and Transportation Lead, John Bale, received the recognition of Fellow for the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA).

AWARD WIINNING PROJECTS

Sandy City Flat Iron Mesa Park

We were recognized by ACEC for the design of the well house and pickleball courts at Sandy City Flat Iron Mesa Park, which added infrastructure and recreational facilities. We also received a second award for the design of the Security National complex in Salt Lake City that captures and releases most of the site’s stormwater in the water table. Lastly, the Ogden Dumke Arts Plaza, which our site development team designed, received an Excellence Concrete Award from ACI Intermountain Chapter for pavement, flatwork, and site work.

Notable Projects: Zion’s Block in Vernal City, Payson Main Street, North Farmington Station Park, SLC Water Reclamation Facility, Northwest Lift Station, Cottonwood Campgrounds, Farmington Main Street, Clearfield TOD, and Kemmerer Rail Expansion (WY).

GRATITUDE, CONNECTION, & COMMUNITY

Our survey team has been doing some amazing work at the Salt Lake City Water Reclamation Facility  ( WRF) since 2020. It is the largest public utility project in history in the state of Utah.
This project addresses the urgent need to meet water regulations and the aging of the facility, which is approaching 60 years. The WFR serves as a sewage treatment facility and is projected to be completed in January 2025. Our surveyors performed existing conditions mapping, site layout and project control.

2023 MEANINFUL MOMENTS

CRS 2023 Client Picnics

In the midst of our dedicated work, we’ve embraced meaningful moments that go beyond the office walls. We believe in gratitude, connection, and community. We were able to connect with 360 clients during our annual client picnics which are held in August. We take this opportunity to show appreciation for the valuable partnerships we’ve built and continue to nurture. We also held two employee events to celebrate all the hard work and dedication of our employees.

Beyond our internal celebrations, we proudly continued our tradition of participating in the “Fill Our Truck Food Drive” sponsored by FFKR Architects to help give back to our community and serve the Granite School District during the Summer. We also ended our year by “Giving Thanks to First Responders,” our CRS team joined in to create care packages for first responders in Vernal. Lastly, we supported the Rwanda Project, an initiative dedicated to providing clean water directly to the Rwanda community. Through our contributions, we strive to make a difference beyond borders, connecting our actions to a global vision of positive impact.

In 2023, CRS has experienced a year marked by substantial growth and impactful achievements. Our team members have played a pivotal role in reaching significant milestones, and we are deeply grateful for their dedication and hard work. We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who has supported us throughout this journey, placing their trust in us to consistently deliver “Answers to Infrastructure.® ”
