CRS provided construction management for an eight-mile roadway and waterline replacement in Ogden Canyon. The project began as a pipe bursting installation. However, given unforeseen rock, the method of our approach was to cut and replace requiring night work and nightly Ogden Canyon road closures.
Careful coordination with UDOT, city officials and local residents to provide traffic mobility and access was key to project success. Additional services included public involvement, inspection, materials sampling and testing, and documentation. CRS field personnel worked through unanticipated road reconstruction, protection of and rehabilitation of rock retaining walls along the Ogden River, installation of storm drains, maintaining local resident access to their homes, through traffic, recreational access for the reservoir and ski resorts.
Key issues were maintaining traffic access through Ogden Canyon; working closely with stakeholders to monitor ROW encroachment impacts; protect fences, and private infrastructure; evaluate settlement and wetland impact zones; and, carefully monitored sensitive construction areas adjacent to the river. Project milestones included placing BMPs as required, notifying residents of upcoming construction schedules, artesian water monitoring, impacted utilities, reconstruction and resurfacing the roadway through Ogden Canyon, with careful attention paid to maintaining traffic mobility and accessibility.
