Due to various races, schedule, safety, and coordination was vital on this project because nearly 2,000 runners and bikers used this road while we were completing the construction. Another unique element to this pavement project was that it was the first hot-in-place recycle project in 30 years. Because of this special treatment, CRS inspectors worked hard to educate the contractor on the specifics of this type of overlay on approximately 5.3 miles of roadway. Drainage pipes were also repaired and replaced and re-grading took place to allow for proper drainage. All substandard guard-rail, drainage, rumble strips, end treatments, and signing along the project corridor were upgraded to meet current UDOT standards. Total construction costs were $2.4 million.
