A decommissioned nuclear reactor was transported from San Clemente, CA through Nevada to EnergySolutions. The 3+ million pound load was carried by the world’s largest rail car to Las Vegas, then transported by truck making it the heaviest load to ever traverse Nevada highways. CRS Engineers coordinated with multiple organizations to plan this trip. Specifically, CRS designed the rail unloading spur and associated earthwork to allow the reactor to switch from rail to vehicle transport. Thanks to all associated for their hard work allowing the safe and clean disposal of the nuclear reactor.
