As part of the I-15 CORE project—the largest ever DOT project in the State of Utah–CRS was an integral part of the HDR/Provo River Constructors team with responsibility for utility coordination and relocation. In this role, CRS designed and managed the relocation of over 25 water and sewer utilities associated with this design/build project. Responsibilities included 54 separate utility packages, all of which needed to meet UDOT’s standards as well as standards specific to various Cities and Special Districts. The numerous utility relocations were necessary for the addition of two new lanes to Interstate 15, in both northbound and southbound directions, from American Fork to Spanish Fork—approximately 23 miles.
The total construction cost of the project totaled $1.1 billion.
