Bringing crowds into Salt Lake City, revitalization of the Vivint Smart Home Arena brings economic opportunities and cultural diversity to the City. BBB Architects was selected to complete the design of the renovations and they commissioned MGB+A to be responsible for all pedestrian space outside of the Arena. As part of the renovation effort, all entrances to the Arena were consolidated into one entry at the northeast corner of the arena. An entry portal was designed by the architects and the plaza and associated amenities to enter the Arena were designed by MGB+A. Many existing barriers were cleared on this corner of the Arena block to create a gathering plaza flanked by light bars and signage. In the center of the plaza is the Jazz’s logo or J Note that welcomes visitors to the Arena. MGB+A was responsible for all hardscape, lighting and planting materials to support the Arena upgrades. CRS completed all site development for the surrounding pedestrian plaza.
